The School of Archaeology, together with Oxford Archaeology, is offering up to three internships of 4-6 weeks, for students who successfully complete the M.St. degree in Archaeology, Archaeological Science, or Classical Archaeology, or for M.Phil. candidates in these subjects at the end of their first year. These will provide an opportunity for students to gain experience working for Oxford Archaeology, the UK’s largest independent archaeological practice. The internships, which will be based in Oxford and are each supported by a £1000 bursary, will involve carrying out post-excavation assessment and analysis to a professional standard, for which interns will receive training and supervision. The internships will commence as soon as students complete their examinations in June, 2014.
Applications should be sent to the Director of Graduate Studies, Dr Janet Delaine, by the end of Week 10, and consist of the following:
1. a brief c.v.
2. a covering letter indicating what the candidate hopes to gain from the internship, any particular areas of interest, and future career plans
3. a letter of reference from the supervisor
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic performance and aptitude, although preference may be given to M.Phil. candidates and those staying on to do DPhils.
