Hillfort Study Group

The Hillfort Study Group was founded in 1965 by a small group of archaeologists interested in the study of hillforts, with the object to encourage the study and exchange of information relating to hillforts.

The Institute of Archaeology holds the archives of the Hillfort Study Group. The material is divided into four categories:

  • General Records (comprising agendas and records of meetings, membership lists and papers, and miscellaneous documents)
  • Financial Records (for members of the HFSG only)
  • Correspondence (comprising general correspondence, S. Elsdon, G. Guilbert, A.H.A. Hogg, J. May, K. Smith, and Westington Camp)
  • Field guides 1966 – 2010 (List of field guide holdings)
