Undergraduate Fieldwork

All BA Archaeology and Anthropology students must complete a minimum of five weeks of approved fieldwork to be taken before the long vacation of the second year. This includes two weeks spent on an archaeological training excavation organized by the Standing Committee and at least three further weeks on a project that the student has selected with the approval of their College Tutor and the Standing Committee. The Oxbow Prize for Fieldwork, sponsored by Oxbow Books, is awarded to the best fieldwork report.

Students are also invited to apply for internships run at the Ashmolean Museum and with the photographic archives within the School of Archaeology.
