This is an informal discussion group for the presentation of all fields of research working with anciently-preserved plant remains (including charred crops and weeds, charcoal, pollen, phytoliths, et cetera). The principal themes are agriculture, diet, and ecology. The scope is potentially global and spans at least the Neolithic to Modern periods, such that sessions can attract attendees from other subject areas than archaeobotany (e.g. medievalists). The group aims to balance the sharing of research conducted within the School with presentations from outside institutions (including universities, public bodies and commercial/freelance experts), to achieve a wide range of perspectives and topics.
