THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT

The 2022/23 academic year marks 30 years since the first intake of students for the Archaeology and Anthropology undergraduate BA degree at Oxford.

To celebrate this milestone, the Schools of Archaeology and Anthropology are delighted to invite you to a celebratory 3-course college dinner at All Souls College on Saturday 23 September. This event will coincide with the University’s Meeting Minds alumni weekend, as well as with the retirement celebration (on the evening of Friday 22 September) of one of the founders of the degree, Professor Chris Gosden.

The dinner will start at 19:30 with pre-drinks and will draw to a close at 22:00. Speakers include Professor Dame Sue Black, President of St John’s College, Professor Chris Gosden, Professor of European Archaeology, and Professor David Gellner, Professor of Social Anthropology.

Tickets to attend this event cost £40. Tickets can be purchased securely online via the University’s Online Store.

If you would like more information, please do contact Robyn Mason, Communications and Outreach Manager, at the School of Archaeology (news@arch.ox.ac.uk).

In addition, we are planning several smaller events throughout the weekend, including a tour of the updated Pitt Rivers Museum and other college-based events.

We are very pleased to announce that our alumni will be offered free admission to Professor Dame Sue Black’s session at the University’s Meeting Minds weekend, on ‘Forensic Anthropology and Human Identification’, in which she will discuss one of the Viking skeletons found during construction at St. John’s College (4-5pm, 23 September, Maths Institute).

The Schools of Archaeology and Anthropology really hope you can make the dinner and associated events – to resume friendships made during your time here at Oxford, to catch up with your former lecturers and to find out how the course will evolve over the next 30 years!

If you have any questions about the event, please don’t hesitate to contact Robyn.

We hope to see many of you there!
