We are delighted to announce a new collaboration with IntoUniversity - a charity which offers an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration.
The charity was founded to address the issue that young people from the UK’s most disadvantaged postcode districts are nearly five times less likely to go to university than those in the most advantaged areas. This isn't fair because it makes it harder for them to succeed in a competitive job market and access professional careers.
IntoUniversity operates 31 centres and extension projects across London, Nottingham, Bristol, Oxford, Brighton, Leeds, Southampton, Clacton-on-Sea, Liverpool, Weston-super-Mare, Coventry, Manchester and Birmingham. They specialise in providing academic support, mentoring and programmes that help children from the UK’s most disadvantaged postcode districts succeed in school, improve their employability and achieve their ambitions.
As of this month we will be working with them to offer academic workshops, here in Oxford, to children from six different schools within the London Borough of Hackney. Members of our gradaute community will work with the team at IntoUniversity to design and deliver interactive and object focused workshops that will tackle some of the big questions considered by our subject. Our graduates will recieve specialised training and invaluable experience in teaching and inspiring these children.
