Talk topics relate to the study of archaeological organic remains and how they inform interpretations of past human diet, health, lifestyle and population history.

Medieval Archaeology Seminar Series

Mon (Wks 2,4,6 & 8) during term time 3 - 4pm, Lecture Room, Institute of Archaeology, 36 Beaumont St

This long-standing seminar brings together those with an interest in medieval archaeology from Archaeology, History and other faculties, to hear established researchers as well as early career researchers talk about their current work.

Archaeobotany Discussion Group

Tues 1-2pm, on selected weeks in term via MS Teams (online)

An informal discussion group for the presentation of all fields of research working with anciently-preserved plant remains (including charred crops and weeds, charcoal, pollen, phytoliths, et cetera).

Climate and Chronology Seminar Series

Tuesday, 12-1pm, Lecture Theatre, 1 South Parks Road

The group provides a range of activities focused on Climate and/or Chronology, predominantly in the form of talks by students and staff.

Graduate Skills Seminars and Training Workshops (GAO)

2pm, Weds, every week during term, various locations

The graduate skills seminars organised by the GAO are brief introductions to practical topics that aim to give students supplemental skills to enable them to be more versatile in the field and in their future careers.

PalEvo Seminar Series

These talks bring together scholars and students interested in all aspects of human evolution. Speakers include established and emerging academics involved in cutting edge research in Palaeolithic archaeology, palaeoanthropology, ancient genetics and palaeogenomics, cognitive anthropology and evolutionary psychology,

Roman Discussion Forum

Wednesday 1pm - 2pm, Lecture Theatre, Institute of Archaeology, 36 Beaumont St

The series presents new and interesting work on all aspects of Roman archaeology - art, architecture, economy, settlement, technology, etc. The audience is staff, postdocs, graduate students, and others interested in Roman archaeology.
