This introduction summarises critical issues relating to the decolonisation of African heritage. Specifically, it engages in a discussion of heritage colonisation and decolonisation and outlines how the chapters in this volume Part connect with these issues through examinations of coloniality and decoloniality in West Africa, decolonisation of the dead in southern Africa, and the decolonisation of museums in the West and in Africa.
